Bristol Photos

This British city is the largest located in the southwest part of England, this city is known as Bridgetown, because its history as a port stretches back over many centuries; Bristol has the most important castles across ancient England. This city was damaged in World War II and so Bristol had to be modified from its original design. Bristol is another green city; it counts with a long association that cares for all the green zones, they are very proud to have the status of Green Capital.
The city center of Bristol has several stores, restaurants and cafes, and one can still see remaining of the old Bristol city.

The Bristol Cathedral
This cathedral was founded by Robert Fitzhardinge as the St. Augustine's Abbey in 1140, but this abbey was dissolved in 1539; the building was rebuilt with a Neo-Gothic style at the end of the 19th century. The cathedral is a "hall church" with a nave; this style is used by Germans in their churches. The cathedral is opened across the year so one may enjoy one of the most representative masterpieces of English architecture.

Bristol City Council House
This building has been the seat of the local government in Bristol since 1956; it's located in the city centre around College Green, near Park Street. It was built after World War II, but Vincent Harris designed it in 1930. Nowadays, the City Council House is one of the most distinguished and memorable places for meetings, exhibitions, conferences, weddings and dinners.

Clifton Suspension Bridge
Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the most famous Victorian engineer, designed this suspension bridge in 1831 and it was finished in 1864. This bridge is a beautiful piece of engineering, although it conserves some original features, the bridge is not as Brunel designed it. Brunel designed it with an Egyptian style. Today, the Clifton Suspension Bridge is used by people to cross over Avon Gorge, this bridge links Clifton (Bristol) and Leigh Woods (North Somerset).

Stoke Park House
Stoke Park is a public space of 108 has, the city council is the owner of this park. Thomas Wright designed this park and it was laid out in the 18th century, it is currently an English heritage. It is located northeast of Bristol; people can visit it all year. The Dower House, which is located inside the park, is the main attraction of this park; this house was built by Sir Richard Berkeley in 1553 and it currently has its original design.

Waterfront development
Bristol offers a wonderful view; its buildings are in harmony with its landscape. If one walks around this port, one will see how beautiful and romantic it is. At night, the silence of the city helps us focus on its landscapes, although this city has several night clubs, tourist prefer to visit the outskirts of the city, because they think the area is magical.

Cabot Tower
This tower is located in the public park of Brandon Hill near the city centre. This building was made in memory of John Cabot between 1896 and 1898, William Venn Gough was the architect who designed it; the design of this tower is based on a tower in Loire-France. It has many gardens around; these gardens are used as picnic areas by people in Bristol.
